Kicking off his career in 2003 with the massive hit "Right Thurr," St. Louis rapper Chingy spent two solid years in the limelight, releasing two platinum-selling albums while becoming a household name thanks to some television appearances and movie roles. Born Howard Bailey, Jr. on March 9, 1980, he began writing rhymes at the age of 10 and began rapping under the name of "H Thugs" during his teen years. Renamed Chingy after a slang term for a looking wealthy, he signed with Fo-Reel Entertainment, an artist management firm with local heroes Nelly and St. Lunatics on the roster. While on tour with Nelly in 2002, he met rapper and Disturbing Tha Peace labelhead Ludacris. He would sign to DTP in 2003 and release "Right Thurr" on the label that same year. With Chingy's slow drawl and laid-back swagger, the track became the anthem for hot summer nights, peaking at number two on Billboard's Hot 100 while topping the magazine's Hot Rap Tracks chart. Released in July, his debut album Jackpot spawned two additional Top Five hits, "Holidae In" with Ludacris and Snoop Dogg, plus "One Call Away" with J/Weav. A monetary dispute between the rapper and DTP would result in a supposed "beef" with Ludacris -- Luda issued some terse words through a press release while Chingy claimed there was no animosity -- and would end with the formation of Chingy's own Capitol imprint Slot-A-Lot. Featuring the singles "Balla Baby" and "Don't Worry," the platinum-selling Powerballin' would become his first album for the label in 2004. The year 2005 found him appearing on television's Punk'd plus The George Lopez show and a year later he would land a role in Scary Movie 4.
His 2006 single, "Pullin' Me Back," would find him back on top on the Hot Rap Tracks chart and help Hoodstar debut at number eight on the album charts, but the follow-up single "Dem Jeans" fared worse although the album did go gold. Unhappy with the way he felt Capitol was promoting their urban artists, Chingy jumped ship and went back to DTP which was by-then a part of the Def Jam family. Hate It or Love It would arrive on the label in 2007 but its debut at number 84 on the album chart would also become its highest position. In 2009 he announced he was working on a new album for release that year. ~ David Jeffries
CHINGY RELEASES “FYR” (F-CK YOUR RESPEKK), THE EP
Multiplatinum recording artist, Chingy is set to release a new EP, titled FYR with four heavy hitters. Proceeding into the second track “And You Know It” is a manifestation of gratitude from Chingy, as he has persevered in his career amid accomplishments and successes. In this suspenseful track, he leads into lyrical confirmation: he is still fortunate to travel the world, perform for his loyal supporters and release music as an independent artist.
In “Talk About It”, Chingy turns out to be even more personal, as he reviews obstacles he has faced in his career and personal life. Revealing relatable details narrated so well; touching on relationships, fake friends, and trials – all inspired by true events in his life.
The closing track on FYR “Girl I Love Ya” is an ode to women, as he conveys reciprocity in love and relationships; Chingy flowingly articulates appreciation and encourages others to do the same and his Valentines Day Release...

new music alert #brand #new @swazystyles new single #weout #nowplaying @atlwebradio #tuneinorbetunedout
Miami-based rap star Swazy Styles premieres his Lead single, "Rags 2 Bags", off his upcoming debut album Swazy due out July 1st. For the album production, Swazy has teamed up with Cash Money Records Producer D Roc for a majority of the instrumentals including "Rags 2 Bags."
About Swazy Styles:
Born in Bronx, NY and raised in Broward County, Florida, Swazy Styles has a bit of east coast influence complimented by the dominating style of the south, which gives him the diversity needed to add fuel to his fire. Being influenced by two separate cultures can be beneficial and Swazy Styles will reap those benefits.
Swazy Styles, born David J. Smith, discovered his lyrical talents after he began participating in freestyle battles on the block in New York. Itʼs a known fact that many stars were discovered that way in hip hop, as freestyle battles on the blocks of New York are legendary. Those scenes are where aspiring rappers find their artistry, and the same went for Swazy.
As he grew as a rapper, he began to develop his individual style and incorporated his character into his lyrics. His delivery was animated, while still lyrical. Swazy outwitted many of the rappers he battled and people began to take notice. Once he realized that he had true potential, he started taking rapping seriously and created a home-based studio. He, along with a few of his childhood friends came together and formed a group called Amped Up. The group began booking shows and becoming highly requested, 6 years later, Swazy decided it was time to go solo.
Swazy Styles continued to pursue his career in music after leaving New York and relocating to Florida. He created a buzz for himself and caught the attention of an independent label based out of Miami named VIP Music. The label then signed him, and has assisted in developing Swazy as an artist, and in capturing the attention of others in the area. Now having a foundation, and being inspired by the greats of our time, Swazy has set himself up in a good place to take off.
During his continuous growth in his lyricism, Swazy has taken real life situations and applied them to his music, making him a force to be reckoned with in addition to his other many compliments. His goal is to take the Swazy Styles brand and music and bless the world. With the passion, diversity, and display of reality Swazy delivers in his music, its only a matter of time before this rising star solidifies his position in hip hop.
When you think about a gifted artist there are not too many as creative and talented as Solo LaMaze. Born in Chicago and raised in Louisville, KY he is a breath of fresh air for the growing music scene in the Midwest. As with all the greats, Solo LaMaze found his passion early picking up the mic at the tender age of 11. His love for hip-hop and music started in battle rap but soon evolved when he begin his career as a recording artist at age 12. Experience is the best teacher, and his teenage years were spent perfecting his craft not only as an artist but also as a producer and engineer. Little did he know that the countless hours spent in the studio would place him leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. His debut project “Year of Solo” released in 2003 with much success and was followed by “Synthetic Dope LP” where he acted as executive producer, producing and engineering the entire album himself. In the coming years he followed suite dropping “Bowel Movement” (no pun intended), “Beast Mode Vol. 1 & 2”, “Rare Form”, and “Sushi Sushi Sushi”.
When local producers denied him access to studio time and beats much like his hometown hero Muhammad Ali he responded like any champion would and opened his own studio and production company, Organized Swagg, before his 18th birthday. His first single “Eeeh” blazed Louisville’s number one hip-hop station, B96.5 WGZB, for weeks and when his next single followed, “Lace Me Up”, he was basically a household name. As his notoriety rose so did his ambitions to be more than a local artist/producer and his cutting edge and diverse style had already caught the ear of some of the music industry’s leading artists. Besides Lil Wayne, Solo was the last person to work with Grammy Award winning rapper Static Major before his untimely death, an experience he’ll never forget. His credits as producer go on to include the likes of David Banner, Beanie Sigel, Juvenile, Sean Paul of the Young Bloods, Kool Daddy Fresh, Twista, J-Kwon, Mr. Serve On, and Young Bleed to name a few. Whether Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, or Rock, Solo LaMaze’s skill as an artist and producer allows him to bring the best out of any artist who has the privilege of working with him.

Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and raised in Wayne County, North Carolina, Terrence Faison, 24, also known as King Moe, lived in between the two states for much of his childhood.
“When I was in school, I never completed a whole year at the same school,” he said. “I was in kindergarten in two different states. It was like that all the way up to the 8th grade.”
Terrence said growing up he and his family struggled.
“We went through a lot,” he said. “We really never had our own place. I would stay with my grandparents in Pennsylvania, and we would stay with family members in North Carolina. I came up kind of rough and saw a lot.”
He didn’t like moving so much and having to make new friends all the time, but he became used to it and embraced it.
“The last move was my decision,” he said. “I would’ve stayed in Pennsylvania, but I didn’t want my mom to be alone. I felt like she needed me. I felt like I was the only one that could keep her alive and safe.”
In March of 2014, Terrence joined the armed forces to travel, connect with people and further his music career rapping. He would end up being stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. This would be his first and last duty station.
LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON
Terrence is picking up where his father left off. In the 1990s, his father, who went by the moniker Moses, put out a rap album called Bloody Diamonds.
“They had the stamps and everything. It was official and a classic album,” he said. “They used to call me Moe-Moe because of my dad, and that’s where my name comes from.”Terrence said his father was lyrical and frequently embarrassed other well-known rappers on stage in North Carolina.
“TO BE PICKING UP WHERE MY DAD LEFT OFF feelS LIKE I’M COMPLETING A PROPHECY. THAT’S HOW I LOOK AT IT. I FEEL LIKE I’M CARRYING OUT MY DESTINY AND COMPLETING A LEGACY.”

***new music alert*** @keon100k smash single "rollin wit yo chick" #nowplaying @atlwebradio @1Radiovizion
Keon Anderson, also known as “Keon” is a Detroit born rapper and songwriter. Keon graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School and currently attends Grand Valley State University, studying mechanical engineering. It was there in college, Keon manifested his love for rap music. Keon was always into music and knew he had an ear for it and last year he decided to go for it. Writing his first single “Rolling wit ya chick”, which he shocked his family with because no one knew the he had the voice or the talent for rapping. Keon showed the single to at least a hundred people and the response was unanimous, they all felt he had “mad potential and could go far”.
Growing up he was inspired by Biggie because he was such a versatile rapper. Biggie could make lyrically hype tracks while using his smooth flowing ability, “stay far from timid, only make moves when your heart is in it, and live the phrase, sky’s the limit” (Biggie Smalls) pretty much what Keon is aiming to do. Newer rappers that inspire him are artist like Future, Meek Mills, and Kendrick Lamar. When he officially enters the rap game, he wants to offer fans all types of music. This includes, making feel good music, club bangers, and real life experience tracks “I don’t write hits for myself, or for other artists, or just to be writing it. I write it because I was born to do this. I was given this gift and I’m making the most of my opportunity” (Future). He also wants to touch the youth in a diverse way, showing them that you can do whatever they dream of. Never stop reaching for your dreams, and most importantly, put them into effect, “build your own pyramids, write your own hieroglyphs” (Kendrick Lamar).
While Keon was good at writing songs on his laptop, his manager introduced him to producers who familiarized him to the art of mixing hits. Being able to see his thoughts profoundly come to light through music, encouraged Keon to began working even harder on his rap career. He created new songs such as “Let me know” and “Grindin”. Grindin shows off his ability where he metaphorically compares “stomping hard on you” to “church folks catching the Holy Ghost” (Keon). Keon will be starring in his first showcase at Bullfrog Bar & Grill on Monday, April 24, 2017.
Through his music he would like to give his fans tracks to party to but also hit them with wisdom. Letting them know that success is not measured by money and fame, but by hard work and integrity. Keon plans on continuing his education while pursuing his rap career. He believes education is very important and does not want to quit school. He believes today’s youth has the ability to open up so many doors, but having a college degree gives them the skills and knowledge to walk through the open doors, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” (Malcolm X).
