Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with, the New York Post reported.
The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a "do not eat" signal to the body's immune system, according toScience Magazine.
This protein is produced in healthy blood cells, but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells.
With this observation in mind, the researchers built an antibody that blocked cancer's CD47 so that the body's immune system attacked the dangerous cells.
So far, researchers have used the antibody in mice with human breast, ovary, colon, bladder, brain, liver and prostate tumors transplanted into them. In each of the cases the antibody forced the mice's immune system to kill the cancer cells

Atlanta’s finalist for school superintendent, Meria Carstarphen, answered questions from parents all day Saturday as she visited six high schools across the city.
Carstarphen, who could be hired by the Atlanta school board next month, told community members she’d work with them to improve everything from graduation rates to the taste of cafeteria food.
During her stop at Maynard Jackson High School in Glenwood Park, she said she wants to strengthen communications with parents and make administrators better serve schools.
“If you flip the organizational chart on its head, that’s probably a better way of looking at how I see central office administration,” she said, receiving a round of applause from more than 50 people in attendance.
Carstarphen said she would attempt to raise graduation rates by reaching children when they’re young, offering early childhood education opportunities and continuing to provide support through high school.
The crowd gave her a standing ovation, and teachers and parents said she she left a strong first impression.
“She’s amazing — a breath of fresh air with her warmness and authenticity,” said Christal Presley, a data coach who works at Jackson High.
Chris Murphy, chairman of Jackson High’s local school council, said he hopes Carstarphen can make administrators more responsive to the needs of students, parents and teachers.
“She said the culture is going to change to the point where the central office supports the school, not the other way around,” he said.
In addition to Jackson High, Carstarphen met with communities at Washington High, North Atlanta High, Grady High, South Atlanta High and Mays High throughout the day.

Elle Varner is planning to give fans a ‘Refill’ of her soulful voice with a new project. The R&B songstress announced the title of her second album.
According to ThisisRNB.com, Varner is calling her new LP ’4 Letter Word.’ The 26-year-old singer describes the project as an emotionally driven and based around four words.
“The album is a beautifully gut wrenching body of songs that I went to a very vulnerable place to create,” says Elle about the album. “The title is open to interpretation, hence the symbols used in the campaign — ‘>$a!’”
“It’s whatever you feel when you experience the album,” she continued. “Does ‘>$a!’ stand for love? Pain? Life? That’s for the listener to decide. ’4 Letter Word’ has the kind of range that can’t be embodied by a single word or phrase.”
Varner has released a couple of tracks so far in preparation for the album. There’s the seductive ballad ‘Rover‘ (featuring Wale) and her latest single, ‘Cold War.’
’4 Letter Word’ is the follow-up to Varner’s debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect,’ which boasts the chart-topping hit single, ‘Only Wanna Give It to You.’
Varner plans to release the set’s official single in the spring with the album due to arrive in the summer.

According to TMZ, a source have told them that the pair have gone from casually hooking up to making it official.

Oprah Winfrey is selling Harpo Studios in Chicago to a developer, but the studio will remain on the property for another two years.
Winfrey filmed "The Oprah Winfrey Show" at the studio from 1990 to 2011, when she ended the talk show to start the Oprah Winfrey Network on cable.
"We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago's West Loop," Harpo told Crain's Chicago Business (http://bit.ly/1iRqccg ) in a statement. "We expect the transaction to be closed in 30 days. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN."
About 200 people work at the 3.5-acre campus, which will sell for about $32 million, Crain's reported Sunday. Harpo said it expects to close the transaction in 30 days.
Winfrey first came to Chicago in 1984 to WLS-TV's morning talk show, "A.M. Chicago." A month later, the show was No. 1 in the market and renamed "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 1985.
Winfrey moved to Harpo Studios in 1990 and is credited with transforming the once-gritty industrial area to a neighborhood filled with families and trendy restaurants.
In 2011, then-Chicago Mayor Richard Daley named the street outside Harpo Studios "Oprah Winfrey Way."

James' previous mark was 56 points. He notched his 57th point of the night with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter after starting his night 8-for-8 from beyond the arc.His 61 points also shattered Miami's single-game franchise record of 56 previously held by Glen Rice.
"The man above has given me some unbelievable abilities to play the game of basketball," James said. "I just try to take advantage of it every night. I got the trust of my teammates and my coaching staff to go in there and let it go."
"The rim looked like an ocean for him," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Spoelstra walked into his postgame news conference with a confession: He nearly took James out after the third quarter. He thought better of it.
"He was in a great groove, obviously," Spoelstra said.
"Once he sniffed 60, we knew he was going for it," Heat forward Shane Battier said. "And the amazing part is the efficiency. Good Lord. Sixty-one on 33 shots, that's Wilt Chamberlain-esque. That's pretty amazing. Incredible performance."
When James checked out with 1:24 left, the entire Heat roster met him near midcourt for high-fives and hugs, and the sellout crowd gave him a standing ovation. A second huge roar followed when he waved to the crowd, as "M-V-P" chants rained down.
"Every night I go on the floor I want to be the MVP, of this league, MVP of this team, MVP for me, myself and my family," James said. "I've set a high standard and I have to live by that."
The Bobcats have now suffered a player's 55-point scoring barrage the past three times it has happened.

A Hot 107.9 DJ charged with aggravated assault following ashootout with officers early Monday outside the Velvet Roomwas booked in the DeKalb County Jail, authorities said Thursday.
Bond has not been set for 39-year-old Ronald "DJ Beestroh" Robinson, who can be heard on weekends and does some club mix shows for the station, according to Channel 2 Action News.
At the time of the shootout, he was DJing Rick Ross' album release party, which was hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs, according to the Velvet Room's website.
About 4 a.m., two off-duty officers working at the nightclub heard gunshots in the back of the club, which is in the 3300 block of Chamblee Tucker Road, according to DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander.
When the officers responded to the rear of the club, "one subject turned toward them, firing shots," Alexander said. "They returned fire, hitting the subject in the leg."
The officers were uninjured, according to Alexander.
He said the wounded man, who was identified to investigators as Robinson, got up and went back inside the club, where he was arrested before being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Robinson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, DeKalb police spokesman Capt. Steven Fore said.
"For whatever unknown reasons, it appears that this DJ, who was involved in the shooting with some others, turned and shot at the officers, and that's when they returned fire," Alexander said.
He said the off-duty officers were in full uniform, and identified themselves as officers when they responded to the gunfire behind the club.
"They were doing what they were trained to do," Alexander told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "They took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other."
The officers were placed on administrative duty, standard procedure when an officer is involved in a shooting.
Alexander said there was "no reason to believe" that any of the celebrities at the club for the album release party were involved in the shooting.
The incident was the second shooting in as many days at a party featuring Combs.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament in Charlotte ended with violence at a party at a hotel that featured the rapper.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said two people were shot in the leg early Sunday in a crowded hotel party for some of the thousands of CIAA fans in town.
CIAA Tournament Commissioner Jacqie Carpenter would not talk about the incident because it was not a CIAA-sanctioned event.
Police have not released the names of the victims or said whether they had any connection to Combs or other entertainers at the event. One person was taken to the hospital and the other was treated and released at the scene.
No arrests have been reported. The shooting happened in a gated-off VIP stage area. Some witnesses said three shots were fired.
The party started Saturday night, as the final game between Winston-Salem State University and Livingstone College was being played. The event also included rappers Fabolous and Future
The Velvet Room shooting was also the second officer-involved shooting in DeKalb County overnight.
A Stone Mountain police officer shot and wounded a suspect Sunday night on Ridge Forest Drive in Stone Mountain.
"The officer used force, discharged a firearm," said Special Agent Brian Whidby of the GBI, which was called in to investigate the shooting.
"The officer was not injured," Whidby told Channel 2s Action News. "The person shot received non-life threatening injuries."
Authorities have not said what led to that shooting.
