I am Samuel Lavon, I have been recording now for 5 years. Currently living in Austin, TX, but I'm originally from Statesboro, GA. I have been singing all my life. Growing up my parents would play nothing but R&B music. My dad was a huge Barry White and Isley brothers fan. My mom always wanted me to sing for everybody all the time even when I didn't want to. About 5 years ago, I met with a songwriter named McKelly Lajaunski, who is also a singer making moves out here, he wrote my first song ever. He allowed me to meet one of the greatest producers that I have ever worked with by the name of Kris Keyz who gave me first opportunity to record anything, back then I had no idea what was I was doing, LOL! But with the help of McKelly and Kris Keyz, they both guided me through it to make me better. I'm doing all this to inspire someone else to go after their dreams even when you have people around you telling you, you can't do something. As long as you never give up the opportunity will eventually permit itself for the right people.

His motivation to keep going is his son, mother, nephews and nieces and also the fact that he's not bout to let a gift and talent that God gave him to let people hear what he got to say go to waste. Knave loves all his supporters and anybody who have ever pushed him to go harder. He doesn't play any instruments, he does edit some of his own videos and knows a little about the recording engineer world.
He didn't have no real major life changes to make him take music more serious, just got a feeling deep down this is what he was put here to do, spread my voice. Father passed when he was 5 from a heart attack, he found his body, his mother passed when he was 27 from heart attack, she passed while talking to him. The name Ricky Tyson came from the former NFL player Ricky Williams and the legendary boxer Mike Tyson (just combined the names), after listening to different interviews from both athletes he heard certain clips he feel related to his life, (that's the snippets you hear on the mixtape the Ricky Tyson Tape). Dj Swift is a producer from Atlanta that Smoketown Knave ran across on Youtube looking for producers outside of his in house producer Fate)

Blending the sound style called “Mash Up” and combining the sounds of electro/pop/house and rock, No Genre is an artist with a storied musical background that showcases the many various styles in his artist repertoire. His musical journey began at the tender age of 3 as he tugged the guitar strings of his superstar father, the late Claydes Smith, who was one of the founding members of Kool and the Gang. Years later, No Genre would go onto work on his craft, writing raps at his aunt house up to 8 songs a day. By this time he had taken the moniker, J Mello and soon his talents caught the eye of his mentor Janes Addiction own, Dave Navarro whom he left out and began touring together in 2007. By 2011, J Mello went solo and underwent a transformation that would become No Genre, the name and moniker that speaks to his ability to blend different genres, creating a style and sound all its own.
