THE BIO In the rap game, flash-in-the-pan artists are called legends before they can legally drive. By those standards, Skatterman is a veteran at only 31, but his is a hard-earned title that comes after years of sweat and heartache. Negotiating the notoriously grimy music business is nearly as dangerous as growing up in the streets of eastside Kansas City but Skatterman somehow avoided the pitfalls of both, making a name for himself in the process. In 2000 Skatterman teamed with fellow KC artist Snug Brim and formed the group Skatterman & Snug Brim, taking the KC streets by storm. In 2001 their album “Worth a Million” caught the attention of Tech N9ne and his label Strange Music, the duo signed on with Strange for a successful, seven-year run. The first album from the label was the undeniable classic, “Urban Legends”. The album spawned the group’s first single to receive national airplay, “Block Party”. The Strange Music success included; performing at over 400 show dates, featured on sales of over 1.4 million records, group sales of over 45,000 units, a solid online and physical fan base of over 50,000, solo tour dates and so much more. The pair cut ties with Strange Music in 2009 in order to expand their fan base beyond the Strange Music barriers. Shortly after the departure Skatterman went solo and started his own venture, BiggShot Music & Films and dropped “This is Kansas City” for free to all the fans! He also snagged a deal with Deep Distribution Worldwide. The new connections mean that Skatterman will have total creative control and independence over upcoming releases. Though the sounds are evolving, Skatterman is still the same person he's always been. Skatterman says. "I have a lot of trust issues -- I don't trust anybody. I'm antisocial, so I arrive solo. This is finally my opportunity to do ME." Fast forward to 2015 and we find Skatterman in the shadows working his magic with his longtime business partner Eric King to formulate a new era of Midwest dominance in Music. With dozens and dozens of tracks under his belt and a worldwide fanbase in the 6 figures, Skatterman embarks upon his new journey with a new found energy and love for the game. He not only seeks to make his mark as an artist but as a musical mentor and life coach. “I have already been out there and done what they are still hoping to do. I have also been in Real Estate and flipping houses for years. This rap money won’t last forever, these artists need to learn how to diversify their portfolios” Now THAT is how you achieve OG Status!
